Different types of heart disease:
The function of the heart is to pump freshly oxygenated blood to all the cells in the body. If the heart fails to supply enough blood or due to its defects or disorder cannot supply blood at all then it is called as a heart disease. Different types of heart diseases are: Congestive heart failure - This is a defect or disorder in the formation of the heart even before birth. This causes inability of the heart to pump freshly oxygenated blood to the cells in the body. Coronary artery disease - This happens when there is a build up of fatty deposits called plaque in the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle. Plaque blocks the supply of blood to the heart muscle. Heart attack - This happens due to lack of enough supply of blood to the heart due to damaged heart muscle. Heart valve disease - This happens when calcium builds up around the valve tissue that makes the valve area of the heart brittle. This blocks the blood flow and blood flows backwards from where it came resulting in excess pressure in the heart. Sudden cardiac arrest - this happens when the heart stops pumping after an abnormally fast heart rhythm. Causes of heart disease: Heart diseases are caused to some other parts of the heart or presence of some substances in the blood that affect the heart badly. This can be explained. Also blood pressure affects the heart. Normal blood pressure is 120/80 mmHg and when this is increased to 140/90 mmHg, is called as high blood pressure. This affects the blood flow towards the heart. Also, presence of cholesterol, which is a fatty substance that is present in the blood cells, causes the arteries to harden and narrow at the end. Due to which supply of blood flow towards the heart is slowed down or no blood flow happens. Sometimes blood clots are formed in the upper chambers of the heart instead of supplying blood. This affects the brain and you may even get a stroke and even affects the pulse and heart rhythm. Sometimes irregular heartbeats appear in the lower chambers of the heart known as ventricles reducing the blood flow to the heart muscle. Anemia is a type of blood disorder in which there is a deficiency of red blood cells. Anemia reduces the ability of blood to transfer oxygen to the various tissues throughout the body.
