Palpatations heart disease:
Why do palpatations occur? The average normal heart beats at a rate of 60 times a minute. But many of us may face situations where deep emotions such as fear, sorrow, disappointments, and stress are involved. The heart is the first to react to such situations where the heart starts pumping blood too fast or slows down. Contractions of the heart that occur rapidly or are followed by a pause are usual case of palpitations in patients suffering from palpitations. How are palpatations diagnosed? Patients known to suffer from palpatations are generally first administered blood tests to find out if they are suffering from any blood abnormalities. This is because the heart pumps blood in and out through itself. Any substance in the blood that may affect the heart can be known to be a cause for palpatations. People are also tested for rapid or slow heartbeats. The heart's activity is monitored and analyzed. Exercise treadmill may also be used to detect if high rate of heartbeats is being caused due to exertion. Narrow arteries are also known to cause heartbeats at an abnormal rate. How are palpatations treated? Patients suffering from palpatations of the heart are normally advised to reduce stress situations, stay away from deep emotions. They are advised also to stay away from cigarettes and alcohol. Locally available medicines can be of help too. Patients who suffer from dizziness or loss of consciousness because of palpatations are often asked to stick to open places and avoid stuffy and suffocating areas like discos and pubs. In extreme cases, doctors may advise a device called as pacemakers to help the heart beat at a normal rate.
